Seventh Sunday of Easter/The Ascension of the Lord

My Companions pray with me: As we believe in and live in the Resurrection of Jesus may we bring You glory in our thoughts, words, and deeds. Bring us forgiveness in Your love. Help us live with hearts of gratitude. And provide for all our needs to serve You and our neighbors.

Birthdays Michael Ross (5/26), Eloise Gerogian (5/29): Anniversaries: Linda & Larry Kent(6/1/??).

Keeping In-touch: Except for our unpredictable weather, we enjoyed another quiet week. Of course, it rained on tennis night!

The Readings: Seventh Sunday of Easter/The Ascension of the Lord

Some Commentary: Fr. John Foley, S. J.

My comments and an invitation for your comments: This reading makes me think of how our image framework must be radically different than that of the first followers of Jesus. Many pictures show Jesus ascending like a rocket-ship lifting through the clouds. The Star Trek and Star Wars impacts on my imagination brings me an image of "beam me up, Scotty" vaporization of Jesus into The Kingdom of God (which is everywhere...where ever God rules!). This view of the Ascension makes Christ's reality both immanent and transcendent... keeps me thinking.

Sixth Sunday of Easter

My Companions pray with me: Let us praise You by showing the Holy Spirit in our thoughts and words, and deeds. Forgive us, please, for our selfishness and sin. Never let us sin against the Holy Spirit by refusing Your love and mercy. Thank You for all the gifts You are giving us. May we use them to be a conduit of the Holy Spirit for others. On this Memorial Day please bless all our ancestors, especially those who passed the faith to us and those who fought for our freedom. May Your perpetual light shine on all who gave their live for faith and for freedom. And we humbly ask for health for those on our list as well as attention to all our needs. Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

Anniversaries: Audrey & Vern Rapp (5/19), Kathy & Mike DePriest (5/22/1982);  In memoriam: Gary Dixon (5/20/2009), Mike Norton (5/21/1987).

Keeping In-touch: We survived the snow and cold of Springtime :) officially 7"  I played two tennis matches. And we celebrated Gloria Prymak's life and the Resurrection of The Lord. Otherwise we've had a quiet time.

Fifth Sunday of Easter

Philip & Jesus, "If you see me, you see the Father."
My Companions pray with me: Let Your glory shine through us as we more fully find You in our experience of Jesus. Forgive us our sins, especially our sins of presumption so we may open all our senses to Your loving kindness. Thank You for all your gifts, especially our health and the new life of Springtime. Please shine Your loving light on those who have gone before us, especially Gloria Prymak, and for those in need of renewed health. Bless Taylor and Aaron as they begin their sacramental life together.

Birthdays: Matthew Peterson (5/15); Wedding: Taylor and Aaron Castillo (5/10/2014); In memoriam: Gloria Prymak (5/9/2014), Gerald Klaus (5/18/1987).

Keeping In-touch: We're back into the swing of things. Marge's friend, Gloria, was hospitalized with the shingles virus, deteriorated rapidly, and died on Friday morning.  We had some nice weather and it held for a limited extent for Taylor and Aaron's wedding but my tennis matches were rained-out... we have snow again. I failed to wish all the mothers "Happy Mother's Day" for yesterday but that doesn't mean I was not grateful for all the love given by our mothers who have gone before us and the mothers physically among us, especially my Bride and my Daughters.

Some Commentary: Fr. John Foley, S. J.

My comments and an invitation for your comments: Jesus' response to Philip challenges us: Have you been with me all this time and you do not know that if you see Me, you see The Father? Too often people want to see God as the powerful force that makes things right, and will be on our side, and will strike down all our enemies. "So show us that power," we ask. We don't really want to know that God gives freedom and graces all, the good and the bad. Do we see God when we walk with Jesus?

Gloria Prymak (5/15/1928 - 5/9/2014)

Usually on Tuesday and Friday mornings, my Bride, (Gloria and Bill call her "Margie") would spend time helping Gloria with little chores and go shopping and maybe to the library. But this last Friday morning, Gloria Prymak entered eternal life with The Lord...
Gloria leaves her husband of 60 years Bill Prymak, their sons William, John, and Paul, and their daughters Anita and Linda, and six grandchildren.

Mass of the Resurrection for Gloria will be celebrated at Nativity of Our Lord, Broomfield, CO at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15th.

Fourth Sunday of Easter

My Companions pray with me: As we follow Jesus, our loving Good Shepherd, may we bring You glory. Help us know Your love and mercy as we as we repent for our failings and seek to live fully in Your love. May our gratitude for all Your gifts show joy to all the people we encounter. And may we trust that You will provide all we need and share our gifts with others.

Birthdays: Willy Smith (5/5), Molly Norton (5/6), Sharon McKay (5/7), Pat Norton (5/8), Connie Kobza (5/10) ; Anniversaries: Katie (Norton) & Jim Frodl (5/11/07); In memoriam: Leandar Lay (5/6/1975).

Keeping In-touch: Well, I'm still sneezing and blowing my nose! But the blossoms and budding flowers are beautiful. And it's nice enough to clean the garage... that'll take all summer! We're re-grouping at our homestead and looking forward to a birthday party and a wedding at the end of the week.

The Readings: Fourth Sunday of Easter

Some Commentary: Fr. John Foley, S. J.

My comments and an invitation for your comments: As Fr. Foley writes, we often will take being called a sheep as an insult. But in our hearts we know the voice of The Good Shepherd, we know that He calls us by name, we know He seeks all opportunities to set-us-upright. May we quiet our bleats and our cries and listen to His loving call of our name this week.

Third Sunday of Easter

My Companions pray with me: In our moments of longing for You Lord, may we bring You glory. Forgive us our failure to be in-touch with our burning hearts that long to live in Your love. Thank you for all Your gifts especially the gifts of companionship and hope. And please provide all that we need physically, emotionally, and spiritually and praise you in Jesus' name.

Birthdays: Rae Ryan (5/1), Anna Margaret DeBaar (5/3), Tom Reynolds (5/3); Anniversaries: Al & Teresa Hardy (5/2/87); In memoriam: Elaine Hebert (5/2/2013).

Keeping In-touch: We enjoyed our visit with our California Kids.  We celebrated David's 2nd birthday and Makayla's 4th. They are filled with life & energy. Marge flew from the Left Coast to the Right Coast to celebrate with her friends Gail and Sallie. I came home to finish classes and begin Summer session. So this blog post is late... The colors and fragrance of Spring fill my senses (and keep me sneezing and blowing my nose!). We hope you're celebrating all the new life around you.

My comments and an invitation for your comments:  This is a Gospel account that has touched my soul. When I did Christian clowning and puppetry we were The Emmaus Troubadours and my work with online religious education and community building takes place as The Emmaus Institute. It is in companionship (with-bread-to shape) that we experience the living Christ among us, we become the Body of Christ.
