Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

My Companions pray with me: Lord, let us glorify You as with lives of service and love of others. Forgive us when we fail to acknowledge Your gift of life, ignore Your graces, and seek another way. Thank You for our daily bread and all the gifts we receive. Please provide all that we need; comfort those who suffer physical, emotional, and spiritual pain. Amen

Companion Events: Birthdays:  Michael Schnitzer (7/27), Marie Friedemann (7/28), Ted McMurdo. (7/29), Karen (Norton) Graveland (8/1), Maggie (Wdowiarz) Lay. Anniversary: Beverly and Larry Grau (7/28/1962) In memoriam: John Lay (7/28/1963).

Keeping In-touch: We kept busy around the house, Marge with her cooking and cleaning and I fixing our deck with my good friend, Gary. We look forward to camping in the Mountains. We're expecting some temperatures in the 90s, so the natural air-conditioning will feel good.

My comments and an invitation for your comments:
Like the Hebrews in the desert, I grumble and too often fail to notice Christ's presence among us. I will work this week to more fully respond to The Bread of Life.

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

My Companions pray with me: Lord, let us bless You as Your Creation is charged with grandeur! Have mercy on our failures to observe and graciously respond to a world of abundance. Know the gratitude in our hearts for all Your gifts. And provide all that we need; especially comfort and help to those who suffer physical, emotional, and spiritual illness. Amen

Companion Events: Birthdays:  Larry Grau (7/20), Marcel Dumestre (7/20), Jim Guyer S.J. (7/21), Cameron Ross (7/26)In memoriamMary Kilday (7/25/2003), Agnes (Lay) Klus (7/26/2010).

Keeping In-touch: We enjoyed a beautiful summer week. The rains have made the Denver area more like an emerald city than we can ever remember. My Bride seems to have all the luck when we play cribbage...we've been having fun (although it might not sound like it when we're playing).

My comments and an invitation for your comments:
The Gospel challenges me to stop questioning "Where can I get enough.... to...." and begin to seek to observe more closely the abundance of the Lord's gracious works among us!

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

My Companions pray with me: Lord, let us bring You glory as we follow You. Hold not our wayward ways against us. Thank You for the green pastures, living waters, and all Your gifts. Please provide all we need to bring You Glory, especially our health.  Amen

Companion Events: Birthdays:  Larry Lay (7/14), Mary Lawrence (7/16), Aimee Aron-Reno (7/17). Anniversary: Megan and Cullen Stevens (7/14/2001).

Keeping In-touch: The Pawnee Campground trip was wet! But we viewed moose, majestic, weird looking animals. We enjoyed a quiet celebration of Independence Day. Otherwise we're keeping busy around the house. "Face-timed" the out-of-State grand children. I received a letter from Charlie from Bible Camp... it didn't take long to read.

My comments and an invitation for your comments:
The Lord is my Shepherd. And He asks us to shepherd one another. The decentralization of many aspects of modern life brings us a challenge to discern the voices of true shepherds in our lives.

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

My Companions pray with me: Lord, with our companion(s) may we bring you glory by sharing Your Word with all we meet. Forgive us for the times we have failed to share Good News with the people we meet. Thank You for all Your gifts. And continue to bless us with all that we need. Please grant the prayers we have listed as well as those that remain in the quiet of our hearts. Amen

Keeping In-touch: We have a new engine in our truck and will test-drive to Pawnee Campground with Connie and Alan for a couple days (high temps in 60s lows in the 50s...natural air conditioning). We enjoyed a quiet celebration of Independence Day. Marge satisfies the thirst of her plants and flowers... Julianne and Charlie will attend Bible Camp this week, we pray that they encounter Jesus in a special way with their fellow campers.

My comments and an invitation for your comments:
I have been blessed with wonderful companions that enrich and challenge my faith, especially my Bride. Too often I have been frustrated by others who do not want to hear or share Good News. The insight I take from this week's Gospel is, "shake the dust from your feet." Or move on... and share the joy with those who desire to celebrate life!
